Abstract

Based on the data from forest resources inventory in 1993 and 2002 of Purple mountain in Nanjing ,these indices of Fractal dimension, landscape dominance, diversity and fragment and other indices were extracted and analyzed in this paper under the support of GIS software Mapinfo 6.5,the landscape heterogeneity and the landscape dynamic characteristics were introduced and assessed as well. Results were as follows:(1)Landscape dominance went up but diversity was reduced and the forest land type was absolutely dominant on two occasions.(2)Those landscape types disturbed by more artificial activities had less fractal dimensional values.(3)Under the influence of the environmental heterogeneity and human activities, the distribution pattern of the forest land was the clustering style but the brush and the open forest approximately had the random spatial distribution pattern.
