Abstract: The fertilizing management techniques of shoot-utilizing stand of Phyllostachys edulis (Carr.) H. De Lehaie were tested, improved and generalized by the method of participatory technology development. Participatory technology development plan, which includes encouraging fertilizing, adjusting fertilizing time and testing and utilizing of fertilizer recommendation based on soil testing, was designed by the analysis of cultivation technique of shoot-utilizing stand of P. edulis. The results showed that winter shoot output increased 1.2~6.8 folds and net production value increased 1.4~3.9 folds. Local adaptability of technology, innovation ability of peasants and the ability of technology generalization staff to solving problems were enhanced by the participation and cooperation of benefit-related groups during the process of technology development.
