Research and Development of Poplar Composites in Jiangsu Province

Abstract: The current situations of poplar plantation and industrial utilization were analyzed. Serious products with potential maketitability were pointed out, included laminated veneer lumber (LVL), cement formwork, composite flooring, fabircated thin veneer, baml3oo-poplar composite laminates, medium density fiberboard (MDF) with super-thickness, strawpoplar composite MI)F, low--density fiberboard and particleboard, oriented strandboard (OSB), wood/straw-plastics composites, poplar fibril wall block, and composition boards with recycled wood materials. Based on the analysis, the author give four suggestions: (1) controlling poplar wood resources; (2) developing non-formaldehyde adhesives; (3) investigating wood protection technologies; (4) enhancing technological innovation, education, patents, and standardlization.
