Abstract

After being steamed and press-dried to certain middle moisture content, the surface of fast-growing Pinus massoniana lumber were strengthened with different kind of resins. Because the steaming time, platen temperature and pressure, moisture content of the wood before being treated with resin, kinds of resin and resin content for spreading have different effects upon the drying rate, volume shrinkage coefficient, modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture etc, the different optimum processes were established according to each effect correspondently.
