Spread and Distribution of Hemiberlesia pitysophila Takagi on the Different Tips of Pine

Abstract: By means of spot survey in Fuqing, Fujian Province from 2003 to 2004, the results showed that the initial and important stage of Hemiberlesia pitysophila spreading to spring tips from autumn tips of pine was Sept. and Oct., and the stage of the pests spreading from spring tips to autumn tips was March, April and May. The pests began spreading to spring tips in the middle ten-day of Sept., and the last ten-day of Oct. was the fastigium. Moreover, the pests began spreading to autumn tips in the last ten-day of April, and the first and last ten-day of May was the fastigium. In the period from Sept. to Dec., number of the pest population on the old tips declined tardily, but that on the new tips increased rapidly. As a whole, number of the pest population on the new tips reached the level of the old tips by 105 days development after the first time of the new tips attacked by the pest.
