The mechanical character and the function of fiberglass/ polyester paving mat was introduced, the mechanical property of the paving mat was compared with the pure bitumen compound based on the indoor test of composite asphalt mixture. The practical application of fiberglass/ polyester paving mat in the Hu-Ning highway extension project was introduced. The result shown that it can improve the capability of the bitumen pavement, minimize the stress concentration in the joint between the old and new surfaces, mitigate and postpone the reflection crack of asphalt pavement road, prolonging the service life of the pavement.
