Abstract: To different character squares, there have different contents and functional demands as well as diffcrent virescence demands and virescence rates. The character of city squares is one of the crucial factors to the virescence rate of the city squares. Based on repre scntative squares, the paper has quantitatively analyzed the virescence rate of city squares by different character, and taken contrast researches on the correlative criterion and ordinance from nation and district. By combining the field survey results of satisfaction degree about the virescence rate and functional layout, the paper has discussed the following problems: the suggested guideline, the function of guideline, compensation for the vegetation quantity and the double evaluation principle.
