Optimizing design of fastgrowing woody species plywood bend elastic properties

Abstract: According to the veneer compression ratio and arrangement of plies, the optimizing design model of fastgrowing species plywood bend elastic properties was built. The design variable was ply thickness and the object function was the maximum of linear cumulative sum of ply thickness. The restrain conditions were the design goal of plywood modulus of elasticity parallel and perpendicular to the face grain, panel thickness and number of plies. The structure of fastgrowing fir was designed. The optimizing design model was validated by changing veneer compression ratio and arrangement angle. The results from experiments showed that the optimizing design model could be used to design plywood structure. It met the design goal by changing veneer compression ratio and arrangement of plies.
