Abstract: According to the foundation of urban forest concept, the planning range and the existing situation investment are analyzed in this paper. The levels, contents, main points and operation procedure of urban forest planning are clarified. Because basic data collection for urban forest planning is a hard work, systematic method should be used. The characteristics of urban forest should be considered with urban economy, social development and population. The technology of GIS and RS and comprehensive analysis are also necessary to be applied to guarantee the information have enough accuracy. Comprehensive arrangement and analysis of the basic information should be made to ensure the collected information accurate and systematic.
