Abstract: With highway expanding and motor vehicle increasing, the influence of highway is getting more and more significant to the surrounding’s environment. Soil black carbon characteristics of woodland and wasteland in different distance to the Nanjing Lukou airport highway were studied. The results revealed that soil black carbon content decreased with the increasing of site distance to the highway. The diffuseness range of black carbon mainly accumulated in 50m beside the highway. Soil black carbon content of surface layer (0—10cm) in woodland and wasteland were higher than that in deeper layer (10—30cm). Black carbon mainly accumulated in surface layer soil(0—10cm). At 10m to the highway, soil black carbon of woodland was higher than that of wasteland, but lower than that of wasteland at 20m and 50m to the highway. This indicated that the forest belts had certain shield absorption effects on black carbon diffuseness, and could reduce the pollution of black carbon dismissed by motor vehicle.
