Abstract: According to the field investigation, site subareas were classified by grade, site type groups by the continuity of the soil and site type by thickness of the soil at the limestone low mountains and hills in Xuzhou city. Thus, the area was divided into 3 site subareas, 12 site type groups and 30 site types. The investigation results showed that the above mentioned site types could be remediated by proper application of artificial engineering and biological measures. Meanwhile, the investigation results also showed that Platycladus orientalis, Acer mono, Robinia pseudoacacia, Sapium sebiferum, Ligustrum lucidum, Cedrus deodara, Pistacia chinensis, Melia azedarach, Rhus typhina, Koelreuteria integrifolia, Ailanthus altissima, Diospyros kaki, Celtistet randra, Broussonetia papyrifera, Sabina chinensis were suitable afforestation species. The results provided the theoretical guidance for the work of vegetation restoration and for the construction of water and soil conservation projects.
