Factors of effecting dimensional stability of curving woodensamples

Abstract: Studying on the dimensional stability of curving woodensamples, probing the factors of effecting dimensional stability of curving woodensamples and their influencing laws aims to control the dimensional change of curving woodensamples and promote development of curving furniture. The rubber wood samples were softened by boiling water and were bent for making curved molds in the test. Some factors including aging time, final moisture content of samples, treatment time at 100℃ and soaking time in water which influenced the dimensional stability of curving samples were investigated. Test results showed that all of the factors affected the dimensional stability of curving samples, and soaking time in water was the most significant. In the treatment time of temperature 100℃ process, the change of sample chords was bigger in the time of 0—2 h than that of other time. The suitable aging time and the final moisture content were 2 h and 9.8%, respectively.
