Effect of O2cold plasma treatment on formaldehyde emission from overlaying MDF

Abstract: The effect of O2cold plasma treatment on formaldehyde emission of overlaying MDF was investigated in this paper. The results showed that a high formaldehyde emission reduction is obtained with O2cold plasma treatment. The mechanism possibly due to the enhanced surface bonding strength improved closure effect of decorative materials on the substrate. Pressure difference between inner and outer MDF during treating was helpful to formaldehyde emission, and high energy particles and active groups resolved formaldehyde.
