Abstract: Since 70’S, Slash pine has been introduced and cultivated in 15 Provinces (auto-nomous region) of China, the state of growth varies with diffenent environment. This paper shows that the increments of diameer breast height and tree height of a young and middle-aged Slash pine stand are biggest in mid subtropical climate, also biggest in downland and bankland of rivers, lakes, and aeolian sandy soil of coastal regions. and the increments are reducing with higher altitude; The thickness of soil layer, especially active soil layer that bulk density is lower than 1.35~1.40g/cm3 and non-capillary porosity is higher than 10%, and soil available moisture content are major factors affecting the increments.
