Abstract: In this paper, the frame of the bamboo-unfolding machine is optimally designed by the exterion penalty method of the Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Technique. This frame can not only meet the demands of strength rigidity and geometric size but also gain good economic benifits. Thus a new way is found to improve the design of the frame with a microcomputer.
