Abstract: Fiftyfive isolates of Sphaeropsis sapinea from 13 provinces in China were compared on the basis of sporulation at different cultural conditions. All isolates could easily produce conidia in nature, but in artificial cultural conditions the spolulation occurred only under white fluorescent lamp or "black light",not at dark. There were differences among isolates in spolulation response to different light sources and in sporont formation at PDA,Czapek, cornmeal agar and pine needle agar (Pinus koraiensis,P.massoniana,P.elliottii respectively).Conidial quantities on autoclaved different pine needles among isolates were varied and were more on slash pine needles than that on other pine needles. The results showed that there was significant differenciation in propagating adaptation and in sporulation among S.sapinea isolates.
