Structure dynamics and quantitative statistics of natural Phyllostachys edulis clone population

Abstract: Structure dynamics and quantitative statistics of clone plant population are two basic characteristics of populations. The demography of natural Phyllostachys edulis clone population in Haiziping was studied by using life table and surviving curve, and the method of age estimation of ramet was also discussed. The results demonstrated that: (1) In natural Ph.edulis clone population, the general tendency of age structure presented as that proportion of ramet decreases gradually with the increasing of age of ramet. (2) The survivorship curve in dynamic life table of natural Ph.edulis clone population was between B type and C type. It was a gentle inclined concave curve. The survivorship curve showed that the larvae mortality of hole cohort was relatively high, the mortality of adult was decrease and tend to invariant. (3) The survivorship curve in static life table was between B type and C type, the total trend showed characteristics of survivorship curve of B2 type. The characteristic of the population was that mortality of this population was constant which was illustrated by the survivorship curve in static life table.
