Abstract: Taking the windprevention and sandfixation benefit of the coastal shelterbelt forest in Zhangpu county of Fujian province as the study object, the paper obtains the vegetation coverage, proportion of the area of bare soil and soil erodibility and makes them as the evaluated indicators for evaluation of the windprevention and sandfixation benefit of the coastal shelterbelt forest according to the remote sensing technology. It constructs the indicators system of the windprevention and sandfixation benefit, makes the evaluated maps of the benefit generated by the coastal shelterbelt forest in 1986 and 2003 with the help of comprehensive index method, and then it realizes the remote monitoring study on the windprevention and sandfixation benefit of the coastal shelterbelt forest. The results showed that the vegetation coverage gave a significant impact on the soil deserted degree. The construction of the coastal shelterbelt had a positive function for windprevention and sandfixation. In Zhangpu county, the mild desertification area had increased from 82.31 % to 83.60 % during 1986-2003, and the former severe desertification regions had been transforming to the mild.
