Abstract: The hydration characteristics of the mixture of grapevine and cement was investigated, and the possibility of using grapevine as the starting material for floor slab preparation was examined. The compatibility between grapevine and cement was assessed by mixing 15 g grapevine powder with 200 g cement and 90.5 g water, and protracting the curve of hydrating temperature and time with the self-made temperature measurement instrument. The results showed that grapevine could not be used directly in cement composite boards because of its high inhibition. Additives such as CaCl2 could improve its compatibility to cement. Compatibility of grapevine and cement was further improved after pretreatments of grapevine. The order of effectiveness were cold water<hot water<1% NaOH. It is suitable for the production of half-dry cement composite boards when together with additives.
