Abstract: Apriona germari Hope is a main insect pest of poplar in Fujian province. In order to screen high virulence strains from Metarhizium anisopliae against A. germari larvae, bioassays from seven strains of M. anisopliae were carried out through dipping in spore suspension. The results showed that the cumulative corrected mortality of A. germari larvae inoculated with Ma1291-2 and Ma1775 strains reached to 89.47% and 88.92% after 14 d treatment. While LT50 value of the two strains were 5.62 d and 5.82 d, and LC50 value were 1.70×104spore/mL and 6.16×104spore/mL, respectively. It could be concluded that Ma1291-2 and Ma1775 had higher virulence than the other strains, with rapid growth and high sporulation. A separate field bioassay suggested that Ma1291-2 and Ma1775 could be used to control A. germari larvae, with 1.5×108 spore/mL.
