Abstract: The variation of the fifteen mineral elements in the needles of the ten provenance of Masson pine(Pi-nus massoniana Lamb. ) were studied during the period of dormancy with 1CP for the first time. The results were as follows, (1)The order of total content of the fifteen mineral elements as, Ca>K>Mg>P>Al>Na>Si> Mn>Fe>Zn>Cu>Ni>Co>Mo=Se. The content of Ca was 4017. 86 ug·g-1 in dry needles. But, the content of Mo and Se was lower than the range of 1CP. (2)Masson pine growing in the southern acid soil made it absorb more Ca, Al, Si and Na to tolerant environmental hardiness. (3)The variation of Ca, K, Al, Na, Si, Mn, Fe, Zn, Ni and Co in the needles was very significant. From south to north and west to east, the content of the nutrition elements was lower down. But Mn appeared contrary. (4) According to the variation of the mineral nutrition, Masson pine of Ningming and Xincheng in Guangxi province was the best provenance, Huashan in Anhui province and Qingyuan in Zhejiang province were the worst, combined with the growth data and mineral content.
