Abstract: Theeffectofthebendingstrength ,modulusofelasticity,compressivestrengthparalleltograinandcom pressionperpendiculartograinofPoplarwoodafterhightemperaturedryingwerediscussed .Theresultsindicated thatwhenthewoodwasdriedinthehightemperature ,thecompressivestrengthbothparalleltothegrainandper pendiculartothegrainweresuperiortothatofair-driedwood .Thedeformationofthewoodreducedasthedrying temperaturewentup ,however,strengthincreasedasthedryingtemperaturewentup.
