Abstract: A bulk soil column desalting experiment was carried out and the soil salt and ion compositions before leaching were analyzed in contrast with those after leaching. Then the dynamic law of salt water movement of coastal salinized soil was analyzed and the approximate amount of water required in leaching was suggested. Finally the effect of desalting was tested and evaluated. The study provided important database for the improvement and utilization of coastal salinized soil. The results showed that with the increase of water amount, the upper layer of the soil desalts quickly, while the middle and the base layers desaltation occur after the salt peak. The formation, movement and disappearance of the salt peak show the dynamic characters of the soil salt movement. The deeper the soil is,the slower is the moving speed of the salt peak and the longer is the duration period. Therefore,it is more difficult to desalt. The order in which the cations are desalted from easy to difficult is:Mg 2+ >Na + >Ca 2+ >K + ,while the anions order is:Cl - >SO 2- 4>HCO - 3.However,the content of HCO - 3 becomes higher after desalting of about 111.8%~142.7%.The pH of soil increares about 1 unit, the fertility of the soil decreases in some aspects. Therefore, the application of fertilizer, the improvement of the soil, and controling soil and getting rid of alkalines are all essential measures.
