Abstract: The changes of community physiognomy characteristics of a 76 year old Chinese fir community, which was originally occupied by a broad leaved community, were studied based on the data collected from sample plots with an area of 3 600 m 2 in Ancaoxia,Nanping,Fujian Province. The results showed that the old growth Chinese fir community had more percentage of herbaceous pteridophyta, cryptophytes, megaphyll, herbaceous leaf, and non entire leaf margin species than the broad leaved community, but had less percentage of arbor, shrub, megaphanerophytes, microphyll, leather like and thick leather like, and entire leaf margin species.
