Abstract: This paper investigated the morphologic changes and the uptake effect on TN and TP in eutrophic water by using oneyear seedlings of Pterocarya stenoptera, which were planted in 4 treatments of simulated eutrophic water with various concentration of TN as 20,300,400, 800 mg/L and TP as 04,80,150,250 mg/L respectively from September to November, 2009. Results showed that P. stenoptera had rather strong adaptability to the eutrophic water, and they grew well in it, with height, stem base diameter, leaves number increase more or less. P. stenoptera demonstrated a good removal effect on TN and TP of 4 different concentrations, with the average uptake rates 831 % and 2379 %, among which the best uptake capacity for TN, TP appeared when they were in the lowest concentration, reached 1706 % and 4086% on average. All the results indicated that P. stenoptera was an applicable wetland regional tree species in the eutrophic water.
