Abstract: In order to study the characteristic of dynamic change of organic carbon in young black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia)plantation in Loess Plateau, the storage of organic carbon in different layer of ecosystem at four stages(2, 4, 6, 9 a)of black locust were investigated and monitored continuously. The result showed that organic carbon storage density(OCD)was slightly affected within first two years, and then changed greatly in different layers of forest ecosystem with the age increase of plantations in the whole forest ecosystem. The tree layer and soil layer were the two main sources of organic carbon storage. Following the increase of the forest age, the OCD of soil layer and its proportion to the total OCD of forest land decreased, while an opposite tendency of OCD variation appeared in the tree layer. Compared with the barren land, the OCD in forest land increased by 6.2%, 15.21%, 21.81%, 38.20% with the increase of the forest age, indicating that plantations of black locust on Loess Plateau was gradually playing a significant role in carbon storage after afforestation.
