A study of tree measurement systems based on Android platform

Abstract: Based on the Android system, using the phone camera, this study explored the utilization of non-professional equipment to measure the tree height and tree diameter at breast hight(DBH). Using the trigonometric function method and image analysis method, the tree height and DBH were measured with the Android platform. This study also developed some functions, such as the equipment presetting, calculation of the target distance and calculation of the tree height and DBH. Through the experimental validation, it was found that the relative errors of the measurements were within 5%, indicating that the system can be applied to the practical tree measurements.
