Abstract:

【Objective】 In order to provide references for the comprehensive utilization and scientific planning of soundscape, we discuss the spatial characteristics of soundscape in Nanjing Metropolitan area under the gradient change of urban and rural areas. 【Method】 Firstly, we take Nanjing Metropolitan area as the research scope, quantify the urban-rural gradient and set the research transect. Secondly, after the objective sound level measurement, GIS is used to analyze and evaluate the soundscape under different gradients. 【Result】 The soundscape within the research scope showed the obvious urban-rural gradient differentiation and north-south spatial differentiation of the urban center, the urban-rural transition zone and countryside. The sound level decreased from Xinjiekou as the center of the circle, first slowly, then rapidly, and finally flattens out. Moreover, the drop in sound levels is the greatest eastwards from the city center and the smallest southwesterly. 【Conclusion】 The analysis of the characteristics and evolution of soundscape from the perspective of the urban and rural gradient could provide references for the study of the evolution mechanisms of the regional soundscape and the spatial planning and design.
