Abstract: Twenty five years old, experimented stand of water culture clones propagated from needle fascicles of Pinus elliottii in Pengchang stateowned forest farm in Jingmen were studied. The growth regularity and differences within different clones were compared and the difference between water culture clones and seedling crops were also discussed. The genetic effects of clones in height, diameter at breast height(DBH) and volume were estimated and analysed. The results showed that there were extremely significant difference in height,DBH and volume within different clones and no significant difference among different individuals. The mean height ,DBH and volume of clones were about 9.1%,17.5% and 50.8% higher than seedling crops and about 34 0%,159% and 747% higher than standard of fast growing and high yield plantation. The repeatability of height,DBH and volume of clones were 044, 085 and 085 respectively. The genetic gain of height,DBH and volume of clones were 418%,1466% and 4318% respectively.
