Abstract: Dispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles were modified by vinyl triethoxy silane(SG-151), to prepare Fe3O4/polystyrene porous crosslinked composite particles by microsuspension polymerization. In the reaction system, the magnetic porous PS microspheres were prepared by using benzoyl peroxide(BPO)as an initiator, divinyl benzene(DVB)as crosslinking agent, sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)and polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)as stabilizers, toluene and heptane as pore-forming agents. The morphology and composition of the obtained porous microspheres were characterized with scanning electron microscope(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA). It was found that the Fe3O4/PS porous microspheres have regular spherical structures with a size distribution from 4 μm to 10 μm, the porous composted spheres also showed good magnetic response in magnetic field.
