Abstract: Microwave assisted liquefaction of biomass is a new and efficient biomass utilization technology. This liquefaction method can not only significantly shorten the the time of liquefaction, but also can reduce the viscosity of the liquefied products and the cost of production that derived from conventional biomass liquefaction technology. Due to the particularity of microwave dielectric heating in microwave-assisted liquefaction of biomass, its influence factors have both similarities and differences comparing with the conventional liquefaction. Effects of liquefaction conditions including moisture content of biomass, heating rate, ratio of solvent to biomass, biomass material characteristics and solvent species on the microwave assisted liquefaction of biomass were summarized and reviewed in this paper. The suggestion and the future orientation were painted.
