Abstract: The plant species composition, plant flora and community characteristics of Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata forests were analyzed based on investigation of 20 plots established in the concentrated distribution area of Q. aliena var. acutiserrata in Shennongjia area of China. The results showed that the Q. aliena var. acutiserrata communities was consisted of 199 species of vascular plants, which belonged to 145 genera in 71 families. Species from Rosaceae, Compositae and Caprifoliaceae took a more dominant position in these communities. In floristic composition, the widespread family was dominant, followed by pantropic family. On the genus level, the temperate composition was dominant accounting for 50.3% of the total number of genera, and there was also certain tropical composition. The forests of Q. aliena var. acutiserrata could be divided into 7 community types according to the results of TWINSPAN assessment. Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata+Dendrobenthamia japonica var. chinensis-Lespedeza buergeri-Parathelypteris nipponica and Quercus aliena var. acutiserrata+Pinus armandii-Spiraea veitchii-Carex ssp. were the most common species.
