Abstract: In order to indentify wild animals involved, the feather can be used as the basic identification. The belly feathers of seven species of Strigiforme were selected and observed with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM). The nodular diameter and distances between two nodules and nodular barbules were measured. The results showed that the belly feathers were only composed of nodular barbules. Distance between nodular barbules(DNB)and distance between nodules(DN)can be used as the basic of indentificantion for distinguishing Tytonidae and Strigidae, but can not be used for distinguishing different species. It is significant that study avian feather can provide identification information on species identification of wild animal involved.
