Abstract: According to the data obtained, it is quite possible that there isn’t any alter; nate host to bamboo culm rust, and the basidiospore does not infect the plant. The uredospores serve as the sole inoculum of infection. Uredospores are detached and scattered vigorously by wind from May to the middle of June. The rust pathogens invade the tender plants chiefly through wounds. The incubation period varies with host plants. It ranges from about seven months to nineteen months. Significant variations have been found in the resistance of different species of Phyllostachys to rust. There are probably different forms of physiological specializations in rust pathogens. The incidence of disease in damp grove of bamboo is comparatively severe in relatively low terrain.
