Abstract: In this paper the data of seven growth characters measured on two-year old plantation for provenance testing, were analysed by means of principal component analysis (PCA), and also the relation between these characters and the nine ecological factors were examined by way of stepwise regression. The results showed that the total growth in length, annual growth in length and crown diameter were positive and high loadings in the first three principal components, which account for about 98% of the observed variance in seven-dimensional space, respectively. The leading ecological factors resulting in variation of growth are the latitude (x1), average relative humitidy per year (x5), and annual average rainfall (x7).In brief, it may be stated that a linear model (y) was estabiiished for annualgrowth type in length for the location of Guang Zhuang Forestry Farm as follows:y = 85.6249 - 1.4147x1+1.3205x5 - 0.0121x7 (F =5.5897**)
