Abstract: A preliminary study has been made of the biomass of cultivated Chinese poplar stands in a central area in an attempt to provide scientific references for forest management and production by comparing and analising.the mean production of stands with various site types and different methods of management. Results show that the biomass of stands is greatly influenced by site types and by methods of management. There is more than three-fold difference in mean production of the stands with the same site types but different methods of management, and more than four-fold with different site types and the same methods.
