Abstract

The research project of paper is in an attempt to provide data of various sawing characteristics (e. g cutting force, feeding force and electrical energy consumption etc. ) for effective development and improvement technology and equipment in sawing and woodworking mills. The results from experiments were as follows: 1. The relationship between cutting force and feeding speeds was linear. 2. The relationship between feeding force and feeding speeds was the function relation of the second power. 3. The relationship between power consumption per a unit area of lumber and feeding speeds also was the function relation of second power. 4. The relationship of lumber roughness between fast-growing poplar and other species was similar. 5. Optimum feeding speeds were 0. 3~0. 4 m/s.
