Abstract

Resin efficiency in the production of oriented structural boards was estimated by examining the resin distribution on the strand surfaces. Plant blender had a lower resin efficiency than laboratory blender. In the laboratory, OSB panels were made from the strands spread at 3 levels of resin atomiza-tion. Comparison of their properties showed that the resin distribution had significant influences on MOE, MOR, IB and thickness swelling of these panels, which confirmed that the lower resin efficiency of plant blender caused more necessary resin dispense and poorer properties of plant OSB than that of laboratory OSB which having the same level of resin content.
