Abstract: Tn the same environmental conditions, there exist differences in quantities of biological sub stances in needles between Chinese-fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata) trees appearing anthracnose symptom in recent years and not doing ones. The trees without symptom have lower activity and specific activity of peroxidase, owler contents of N, P and higher contens of K and cellulose than the trees appearing symptom. New shoots do not appear symptom in the current year although the needles were infected by the causal fungus. The shoots that developed in the last autumn appear symptom in spring, it may be related to higher reducing sugars content in the needles which is favorable to the causal fungus to break the condition of latent infection, and related to lower cellulose content in the needles which is favorable to the spread of the causal fungus. As the disease developes, the metabolism of the host may be confused due to the changes of the activity and specific activity of peroxidase, the contents of protein, water, N,P,K and carbohydrates in the diseased needles.
