Abstract

Hydrolysis of warm water extract of Larix gmelini RUPR chip and the possibility of single-cell-protein production from it have been studied. Unhydrolyzed extract is difficult to be utilized by fungi used in the experiment because the Arabinogalactan is main composition in the extract, but the fungi can use the sugars in hy-drolyzed extract with the addition of Nitrogen, phosphrus, etc. to product single-cell-protein. The Paecilomyces varioti strain used in the experiment can utilize manifold sugars such as Arabinose, Galactose and so on, so the highest yield of its thallus is obtained which is as high as 51. 91 %. Candida tropicalis and Candida utilis can only use a part or can not use completely Arabinose that amounts to 20% of total sugars in warm water extract, so their yierd of thallus are 40. 95% and 36. 00% respectively. The activity of commodity hemicellulase used in the experiment for hydrolysis of Arabinogalactan is lower, but the rough enzyme made in our laboratory can hydrolyze Arabinogalactan better, with a hydrolysis rate of 71. 85%.
