The article sudied the numerical classification of cultivars of sweet osmanthus for the first time. 15 main characters had been selected to study 25 cultivars of sweet osmanthus. The results of PCA method represented the information of all selected characters comprehensively and revealed the key to the cultivar classifivation, thus providing quantitative foundation for observing, recording and accepting or rejecting the characters hereafter. The results of cluster analysis showed that some characters such as flower color and flower stage etc, played an important role in the classification. At the same time, the article also emphatically delved into the affinity among these cultivars.
