Abstract: Studies on sex related characteristics and plant sex identification of dioecious trees in the past fifty years were summarized and classified into 8 approaches in the light of measures taken. Morphological, physiological, chemical methods and the way of isoenzyme are comparitively handier, whereas methods of RAPD, high resolution flow cytometry and phenolic substance determination by HPLC are more accurate.
