Abstract

The endocrine organs of adult Apriona germari (Hope) mainly consisted of brain neurosecretory cells, corpora cardiaca and corpora allata. Brain neurosecretory cells included two groups. One of them was located in the pars intercerebralis and the other in the pars lateralis of protocerebrum. There were a pair of corpora cardiaca and corpora allata respectively. The corpus cardiacum and corpus allatum were located on both sides of oesophagus. Corpora cardiaca was connected with protocerebrum by nervi corporis cardiaci Ⅰand Ⅱ (NCCⅠand NCCⅡ). The nervi corporis cardiaci Ⅲ was not found. It was the most likely that neurosecretory cells in the pars lateralis of protocerebrum contributed to the NCC Ⅱ, and that neurosecretory cells in the pars intercerebralis of protocerebrum and tritocerebrum contributed to the NCCⅠ. During the reproductive stage, the corpora allata of the female was larger than that of the male. The volume of females corpus allatum varied with the stage of oogenesis. The rhythm of oogenesis was controlled by juvenile hormones secreted by corpora allata.
