Abstract

The effects of different planting densities and growing media on the growth and development of miniature pot rose(Rosa hybrida ’Miniature Pink’) were studied in this paper. The results showed as follows:With characters of root number, the fresh and dry weight of roots, area of leaves, the fresh and dry weight of shoots and the whole plant, the first planting density(1 plant per pot) created the greatest effects on the individual plant, while the fifth(5 plants per pot) had the greatest effects on the pot flower colonies(pot flower); Two kinds of growing media(70% peat moss+30% pearlite and 70% pearlite+30% peat moss)could promote growth of miniature rose most significantly; All the treatments had no significant effects on plant height and diameters of flowers. In production practice,it is better to culture more plants per pot for promoting rapider growth and development of miniature rose colony.
