Abstract: The vertical patterns of diameter and volume of moso batnboo stem were studied in this paper. That bamboo stems were divided into 40 sections at equal length. That the girth, thickness and node of each section were measured. Seven regression models were established to describe the vertical structure of the diameter, volume of timber of moso bamboo stem.. Those models were applied to relative diameter, relative apparent volume, relative real volume and relative node volume of timber with relative height of stem, and apparent volume, real volume, node volume of timber with DBH of stem. Although differences appeared on DBH at different moso bamboo individuals, there was striking identicalness of relative diameter and relative volume at vertical direction. It was mainly due to commonness on the vertical structure of moso bamboo stem.
