Abstract: The nut characters of 32 old Ginkgo trees (Ginkgo biloba L.) from Ninghua county of Fujian province were studied. The results were as follows: (1) The nut of 32 old Ginkgo trees were divided into three types of horsebell, plumstone and roundstone types. (2) The weight per nut, volume per nut, length, width and thickness of the nut of 32 old Ginkgo trees were significantly different, and the weight per nut of No.26, 1 and 13 were the highest. (3) The variation coefficients of indices that correlated with weight of nut were higher, however, the variation coefficients of indices that correlated with shape of the nut were steady. (4) The results of the correlation analysis indicated that there were significant correlation among the indices of shapes of nut, and the results of regression analysis showed that there was significant correlation between nut weight and the length, the width, as well as the thickness of nut.
