Abstract: Using the allometric biomass models for trees and field investigation of understory plants and soils, carbon density and carbon storage of main forest types in Wawushan Forest Farm were studied. The results indicated that, the carbon density in the forest ecosystems was averagely 101.72 t/hm2, being ranked in the order of tree layer (55.37 t/hm2), soil layer (41.89 t/hm2), litter layer (4.92 t/hm2), herb and shrub layer (0.32 t/hm2). The total carbon stock of the forest was 144 820 t, and distribution in the four layers was 79 204.55 t (54.69 %, tree layer accounting for 54.69 % of the total carbon stock, the same followed)in tree layer, 59 927.77 t (41.39 %) in soil layer, 5 292.07 t (3.65 %) in litter layer and 395.78 t (0.27 %) in shrub and herb layer, respectively.
