Abstract: The spatial dispersion pattern of individual trees in forest communities is one of the core topics in community ecology.Understanding tree dispersion pattern is important to conserve and manage the forest sustainablly. Based on data collected from 6 hm2 permanent plot of Picea schrenkiana in the western of Tianshan Mountain, this study examined the species compositions and the population spatial distribution. Results showed that:In the plot of P.schrenkiana forest, only P.schrenkiana and Betula tianschanica population could be found in the tree layer. There existed greater differences in the densities of P.schrenkiana and B.tianschanica individuals, e.g.. P.schrenkiana had the density of 217.5 plants per hectare, while B.tianschanica had the density of 20 plants per hectare. Diameter level structure of P.schrenkiana and B.tianschanica tended to be normal distribution. The individuals of P.schrenkiana and B.tianschanica presented mainly as a cluster distribution. The maximum congregate scales of B.tianschanica were less than P.schrenkiana, but the maximum congregate intensity was greater than P.schrenkiana. The correlations between P.schrenkiana and B.tianschanica was negative.
