Abstract: 【Objective】 Identify the pathogen causing stem canker on Sophora japonica Linn. var. japonica f. pendula Hort. 【Methods】 The method of tissue isolation was used to screen for suspected pathogens of stem canker on S. japonica Linn. var. japonica f. pendula Hort. A field experiment was performed to confirm the stem canker pathogen. Morphological characters, rDNA-ITS and EF-α gene sequence analyses were used to identify the pathogen causing this disease. 【Result】 A Koch's postulates assay was performed on the F6 isolate, and this fungal strain was identified as Fusarium solani species complex(FSSC).【Conclusion】F. solani species complex(FSSC)was confirmed as the pathogen of stem canker on S. japonica Linn. var. japonica f. pendula Hort. This is the first study describing the pathogen causing stem canker on S. japonica Linn. var. japonica f. pendula Hort.
