Abstract

The results of tissue culture and rapid propagation on 4 Gerbera cultivars were reported. Buds were induced from 0.5~1.0 cm long young leaves cultured on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L 6BA and 0.1 mg/L NAA for 12~21 days, with an induction rate higher than 60%.It was a best way for adventitious bud regeneration.Three kinds of media:viz.MS+0.3 mg/L 6BA +0.1 mg/L NAA,MS+1.0 mg/L 6BA+0.1 mg/L NAA and MS+0.3 mg/L 6BA+0.1 mg/L PP333+0.1 mg/L NAA were used alternatively for propagation of bud subculture, and the average propagation coefficient was 5.1.The medium of MS+0.1 mg/L PP333+0.1 mg/L NAA were used for rooting, and the rooting rate was more than 95%.Rooted plantlets could survive after 15~20 days when they were transferred to peat. They could be planted in field after 25 days and could flower after 3~4 months. An efficient and rapid production system has been successfully developed to propagate Gerberas.
